They sat at the base of the ship, metal panels scattered around them between half-empty bins of spare parts that looked like they'd been ransacked by pirates. Off to one side, Taipol fished through a pile of tubing to find the calibrator with the blue handgrip—Salarian design; their grandmother's, in fact—before standing up with a groan. "Been sitting too long," they muttered, picking their way over to the vorcha crouched beside an upended bike.
Karvak didn't look up as Taipol approached, but they'd have been more surprised if rer had. There were times when even the ship's general alarm wasn't enough to break through rer hyperfocus—though that was slightly less dangerous than when it happened to Taipol or O'three, the ship's pilots. "Good, very good," Taipol muttered, tracing Karvak's work with one hand.
