BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV) — The 2020-2021 shrimp season has officially opened in Mississippi state territorial waters, according to the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources.

The MDMR says that all boats engaged in catching or transporting shrimp from Mississippi waters must be licensed or permitted by the MDMR before beginning operations.

A local leader in law enforcement is leaving his post with MDMR to help lead the Secretary of State’s Office in Jackson.
