OK tumblr! This is meant for twitter but i though you guys would want it just as much (don't worry, you get it first) Saying that because this is going to talk A LOT about recent drama on mcyttwt (and some things relating to the recent vid-con)

Starting off, this is NOT calling anyone out, this is more a PSA on internet safety and the best way to call out people breaking the law/rules (mainly as i see A LOT of people not understanding the basics)

Ok so first off when it comes to minors being on the internet both the minor and non-minors have levels of responsibility in minors safety (from now referred to as M-Safety).

Minors HAVE to make sure they DO NOT release ANY form of personal information online this means little to no photos of yourself (i usually say under 16) DO NOT use your real name on the internet!!!! use nicknames you go by irl for all means, but DO NOT use your real name! ALSO! you can post your age! (i do myself) but age ranges are just as good! (I myself have broken this and paid the price, do not use me as an example of perfection in relation to this)

ADULTS! you also have a level of responsibility in M-Safety! This is mainly in relation to the way YOU interact with minors! (to be clear I'm not saying adults cant talk to minors)

First of all- DO NOT FUCKING POST NSFW OF MINORS/WHERE YOU KNOW WHERE MINORS WILL SEE god i see this broken AT LEAST once a week (I'm honestly used to it and that's concerning considering I'm 16)

Second - If you see a minor being un-safe on the internet TELL THEM (in dms! publicly saying shit can get people targeted) (this goes for minors too! if you see another minor or even and adult being un-safe tell them!)

OK! these next ones apply to BOTH minors and adults and are about maintaining safety for EVERYONE and keeping areas safe!

If you know someone is doing something like support pro-shipping, grooming people, encouraging others to commit illegal activities, doxxing people, telling people to kill themselves. DON'T FUCKING DEAL WITH IT IN DMS these are the situations where you CAN publicly say shit, because actions like these are ACTIVELY HURTING PEOPLE AND ARE USUALLY ILLEGAL IN SOMEWAY

However, if someone is just doing stuff like saying things behind others backs, or just being mean try to deal with it privately! more often than not you will reach an agreement, if you don't then CALMLY make a post! make sure you explain as well that you tried to deal with the situation privately as that will make it more credible!

Additionally, when interactions involve money or are getting strange (trust your gut!) KEEP RECEIPTS! these involve recordings, screenshots etc. These are SUPER important when confronting someone/calling someone out (also the first thing i was taught about internet safety in school!)

If you know someone has done something bad (like death threats or doxxing) DO NOT SAY SHIT LIKE 'in dms' (if its something potentially triggering that's another thing) ALWAYS say if someone has sent death threats/dox threats/sexual threats AS THOSE ARE USUALLY ILLEGAL. AND CAN GET SERIOUS REPERCUSSIONS IRL. It is important to share who to block! especially in communities with high levels of minors in them!

this next one is in relation to vid-con DON'T STALK PEOPLE. THATS IT. THAT'S THE DOT POINT. YOU ARE NOT THEIR FRIEND YOU ARE A RANDOM PERSON ON THE INTERNET.

Also! if you think you are being stalked/followed block the person and call for help! (this can be police but i suggest friends and family) and make sure you get to a safe space only you and trusted friends can access!

Your mental health takes priority over the internet/content. If you are seriously struggling/getting stressed then TAKE A BREAK this break can be 15 minutes whilst you go for a walk or it can be several weeks whilst you get help!

In addition PLEASE tell someone if you plan on disappearing for a while! A simple 'I'm ok, just need to take a break' is all you need! (this is because alot of people disappear and it turns out they killed themselves) Telling just one person is fine as usually they can relay the information to others!
