My belated contribution to MCtober! Zach was gutted at the Exceptional grades, though his favourite subjects were easy Outstandings. Sometimes he just gets too deep into the things he likes and neglects those subject he finds superfluous. He won't make the same mistake again for his N.E.W.Ts.

Zacharias Blackwood (no relation to the Black and Wood family union several centuries before) was born to a Muggle father and Witch mother in Cheshire, England. As a metamorphmagus, he inherited his ability to shapeshift at will from his mother, and uses it to change the colour of his hair depending on his mood. His friends often say they give him a wide berth if he happens to be sporting black hair any given day.
He is studious and enjoys readingΒ about rare spells and branches of magic, something which he bonded over with Sebastian. He also asked Natty to teach him wandless magic in their seventh year and learned how to cast the patronus charm 'for fun'.
As well as being a bookworm, he enjoys using his shapeshifting ability to get in to (and out of) trouble and indulging in a little mallowsweet at the end of a busy day.
His mother's side of the family disowned her when she married Zach's father, a Muggle. His father's family were similarly appalled at their son's choice of partner, branding her a βfreakβ, and were subsequently obliviated by the Ministry when they threatened to expose the magical community. As such, Zach has no relationship with his grandparents.
Zach has a somewhat strained relationship with his brother who is two years older and now working as an administrator in the Ministry of Magic. Zach is generally distrustful of the establishment. Dominic didn't inherit their mother's metamorphmagus abilities, only increasing the tension between the siblings.
