Jesse stares incredulously at Genji and at the unconscious woman in his arms, or at least, Jesse thinks she’s a woman; most women don’t have tails like eels after all. 

“That is a mermaid,” Jesse says faintly, gaping as he takes in the heavy injuries the mermaid has, her blue and gold scales caked in what’s hopefully someone else’s blood. 

“She needs our protection,” Genji says determinedly, brown eyes narrow. “I fought of the people trying to harm her. The dragon fed well. But we need to make sure she is able to heal and be safe.” 

“Got it,” Jesse says grimly. “We also need to find out what happened.”
