Our collected oral history interviews are now available to listen to online at Archives+ online catalog. (Click on the link provided- access by typing ‘Bradford Pit’ into the search bar)

 Part of piecing together the pit and its community was gathering evidence from the time, sourcing firsthand accounts of the memories of people who worked or lived on the site and area. 

Our dedicated group of volunteers were provided professional training by Oral historian Fiona Cosson at the Manchester Centre of Regional History.(All interview summaries by Lauren Murphy) 

These interviews are just small part of our full generated archive on the pit which will be launched and showcased at Archives+ as part of our involvement in Manchester Histories Festival this year ... Lots more to come! 

Bradford Colliery Archive Handling Session 

Thanks to Archives+ Manchester Central Library and all who came to the archive session today. Brought back many happy memories and old acquaintances for many.

Wednesday 20th May - 12.30- 1.30 on wards

Archives+ (Manchester Central Library) will be hosting an archive handling session specifically around Bradford Colliery. 

This is a chance for you to get your hands on the library’s collection on the pit (as well as the archive additions the project has deposited to the library- this include our oral history recordings) and your chance to share any archives you may have relating to the colliery or the area of Bradford itself. 

Please bring along any photographs or paper archives you may own on Bradford pit and have a look through the library’s fantastic digital exhibition. 

Please help us in aiding the generation of a permanent archive to be housed at the Library.
