In my time I've found that love isn't what I've always been told.  Its not fairy tales, princess, white knights, any of that bullshit.  Not the romantic comedies or romantic movies.  I'm sure everyone already knows that though.  Its also not a lot of the bullshit we get fed every day by the people we're close to.  A lot of people will say there is someone out there for everyone, and statistically speaking, they're probably right, however, statistically speaking you'll probably never meet them.  This little thing may be a bit cynical for anyone who reads it so I do apologize.  

Love is this idea that people have concocted about marrying the love of your life and having 3 kids in some suburban down.  Love is not this sweep you off your feet romanticism bullshit.  I'm sure many people in their lives will experience what it is to feel that kind of a strong love, and I'm sure most of them will not end up spending their lives with them.  

And love is not this complicated, wishy washy, confusing bullshit that we all think it is.  Love is simple, people are complicated and fuck things up.  If you love someone, you fuckin love them.  It does not matter what they do, you fucking love them.  And the thing is, everyone talks about love in this romantic form but I never really see people talk about it in the friendship form.  

In my mind, these two things are very similar.  I take pride that when I go out in public people think I'm dating my best friend, because I love them.  Both of them.  And you know what, I'm probably more romantically compatible with my male best friend than I will ever be with any girl I date.  And fuck it, we might as well get married.  This dude knows me better than close to anyone else in this world.  :The only one that might give him a run for his money is my other best friend.  For a long time whenever me and her went out everyone just assumed we were together.  Strangers, people we knew.  And that is where love is visible.  Not from within, not when you sit there and goo "ooh, I love you soo much" no, its when someone who you've never met walks up to you, and calls you a cute couple, or compares you to their relationship.  That shit hits you like a mack truck, but you know what, loving your best friend is basically being in a relationship with minimal intimate touching.  I say minimal, because we've all touched our best friends inappropriately, and its all good cause fuck it, they know everything else about you.

But in terms of love, its not a feeling that when someone is gone you miss them uncontrollably it starts to kill you, while that may be a side affect of love, it is not a sign of love.  Love to me is not missing someone, I miss a lot of people I don't love.   Love is when that one person walks in the room and your day is instantly better.  Love is spending long periods of time with someone and not wanting to kill them.  Love is having a screaming match at 2 in the morning, and at 3 in the morning they turn to you and are like "hey, wanna get tacos, i'm starving".  That is what love is.  Love is the ability to bare your soul to someone, and have them systematically tear it apart and rebuild it into something better.  Love is taking a look at the darkest depths of someones soul, and holding them closer because you share a similar darkness.  

2.You son of a bitch.  I miss you too.  It fucking sucks that we just got reconnected this year and I'm leaving again.  But don't worry man, I'll be around as often as I can.  Its not gonna be like last time.  Hope you visit sometime this summer, and we can hit up some shows somewhere.
