things I just wrote in the current draft of a thing titled, "21 facts about Camden Lahey that no one asked for, ever" (for context, there's a more in-depth explanation of Cam and Isaac's relationship that comes right before this):
basically, on a scale of fraternal devotion ranging from 0 to 10, with 0 being, "brothers who never speak to each other and don't even hate each other, they're just indifferent, because Indifference is the REAL opposite of Love (unlike Hate, which is like Love's quasi-incestuous gleefully destructive evil twin or something)," 10 being, "Fred and George Weasley," either 17 or 18 being, "James Potter and Sirius Black," 21.5 being shared by, "Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi" and, "Scott McCall and Stiles Stilinski," 27 being, "Sam and Dean Winchester," and anything in the range of say… 3.5 to 9 being, "more or less emotionally healthy relationships between brothers (be they literal brothers or not)"
(and just for the sake of thoroughness, let's say that 9 is the marker that designates… "Han Solo and Luke Skywalker" and/or "Harry Potter and Ron Weasley," so like… that sweet, touching A+ "bro, you're probably my best [surrogate] brother I ever could've asked for, you are a very good friend, and I would totally fuck you if you asked" sort of bond that doesn't involve any potentially dangerous levels of codependence — or anything else — even if it's a little more devoted than most people get with their siblings, be they literal blood related siblings or found family siblings.)
yeah, okay, so…… on that scale of fraternal devotion, Camden and Isaac Lahey are hard to put a number on? but suffice it to say, they're so far out there that the Winchester brothers are but a PINPRICK to them.
and yet, they fully understand concepts like, "my brother needing to have some space of his own is not about me and I should respect it without having a tantrum (even if we do still have keys to each other's apartments and a standing invitation to more or less come and go as we please — including our total failure to find it weird or be particularly perturbed if we're having sex with someone and our brother shows up to borrow something — and before this, when we lived at the old house and then lived together elsewhere for a while after Cam finished his enlistment, we used to just have an understanding that a closed bedroom door meant, 'knock first' or keep put…… to everyone but the two of us),"
and concepts like, "it is perfectly natural for my brother to have other people who are important to him and this is something I should encourage without being a little shit about it, and if I don't particularly like one of his friends — c.f., Cam and Jackson, who really do not get along that well if left to themselves — then unless I can PROVE that said friend is Bad News Bears (i.e., go on a lot more than a hunch and/or their non-human sentient species, and prove it beyond a reasonable doubt), then I owe it to my brother to be honest about not liking his friend, but to still do my part to NOT be a little shit or shove him in the middle of things if I get into a disagreement with said friend. and if I do have said disagreement, I should try to resolve it in ways that DON'T screw shit up for my brother or make stuff awkward for him."

……but yeah, no, Camden still has no earthly idea what this word, "codependent" means, he has suddenly forgotten its definition entirely and couldn't even guess at it ever, and really he has no clue why you would ever say it about him and Isaac at all ever, you big silly goose. (◕‿◕✿)
and THAT, dear readers, is what is mean whenever I say that Camden Lahey loves his little brother more than anyone or anything else in the universe.
