There’s a sharp reply waiting to be set loose.

But he releases that need to always bite back, no matter how absolutely terrified ( and completely skeptical ) he is right now. They’re a team now. Rusty tin bucket and all.

( And so he breathes )

“Alright, I trust you.”

He hadn’t thought that those same words would slip past tongue; with voice hard with reassurance and a belief that he so desperately wants to hold on to. Doubt lingers; barely a sliver, swallowed much like the nerves he downs with heavy breath. Trust is a heavy burden, and he hopes to carry it, and keep the other safe.

“Good, I’m going to need that.”

He makes it clear, that actions aren’t taken with the ignorance of skill, no -- rather, the knowledge of duty and responsibility. What was his, and what was the doctor’s. They had, in their own way, a hand in keeping those on board the ship safe, whether it be those steady with tools to heal, or the one that grips tight the control wheel and throttle.

Silence is broken with metal against metal, and the extension of a sword. One more look at McCoy, before another ahead.

“Keep close.”
