My edits of original source material: MCC Theater YouTube live stream (28.04.20) with Oscar Isaac performing as Torch in Alan Bowne’s Beirut.
The livestream was a wonderful experience with all the joys of live theatre, plus a different kind of intimacy created through the feeling (if not reality) of video calling with the actors. The actors and production team achieved a helluva lot with no / very minimal set and the constraints of a virtual performance. Can confirm what will surprise no-one; that Oscar and Marisa are hella talented. I also recommend reading the play if you haven’t already as it’s excellent writing, imho. “I’ll gangbang you all by myself.” was a standout line but I’m being flippant- there was plenty of poignancy as well as humour and sexual tension. In summary: STANDING OVATION.

Still reeling from the masterpiece that was Miscast21. I absolutely LOVED the performances!
Renee singing Those Magic Changes? Well damn I didn’t know I needed to hear that in my lifetime but I so evidently did!
Annaleigh singing Mr. Mistoffelees cracked. me. up. Because of course she would pick that song 😂 The costumes and acting? Top notch. 10/10. I need a one woman remake of Cats now.
Kelly Marie Tran deserves an award for the dedication to her performance alone. The production value made me feel like I was watching a movie.
Genderbent Rent? I am so here for it.
Billy Porter singing Diva’s Lament was just too perfect. Robin’s performance was soo good too!
Also, Patrick Wilson singing as Christine??? Iconic. As a biiig POTO stan and someone who was unapologetically #TeamRaoul when watching the 2004 movie for the first time, I was LIVING.
And we all know my thoughts on the Gavin & Aaron reunion...
The rest of the performances were stellar and I really did enjoy Miscast this year! It’ll be hard to beat for sure!
