You're great, you're brilliant, you had an incredible race, [did] an equally good - an even more incredible overtake, and I can only offer all my congratulations [/compliments], because I've worked with several riders over the years, seen the data of several riders, [and] you, as well as being strong, you race really well, and you always have this positivity inside you, you're always... you believe in it, always, and bez, truly, keep it up because you're doing really, really well.

re: massimo hug. well i will say that sava did go up to bez on track at the end of practice for a little handshake so he DID get in first. but sava obviously has bought into rivola's philosophy of helping riders reach their potential by surrounding them with love and support, so in his role as bez comfort object as well as just someone who genuinely cares about bez i dont think that he necessarily begrudges massimo for 1) also caring about bez and 2) expressing that care in a way that bez frankly blatantly needs (and evidently ASKS FOR! oggi non ci siamo neanche abbracciati..) especially when he's being sooo brave and shouldering aprilias hopes even though his back hurts etc etc. maybe a twinge of jealousy that he isnt there to congratulate bez and he has other things (his actual job) that he has to do after the sessions. same thing with the sprint win and the race podium. like he wasnt there. at least not that i saw :(

anyway. following on from that last ask. thank you to diggia for confirming that (at least some of) the riders stay in houses at pi. idk if this is with their teammates (sidebar imagine a diggia franky house. help) or each with their crews or what. truly an atrocious lack of journalism on this subject. either way sava is knocking on the door of bez's room or worse! knocking on the door of the 72 crew's house and being sympathetically let in to go check on bez on thursday evening. bez canonically in bed watching a bob marley documentary or something (source that gazzetta article i translated) and feeling a little sorry for himself and sava is mostly there just to reassure himself that bez is alright in person. away from the cameras. after those horrible crashes that he had to watch on tv. even though theres not really anything he could do if bez ISNT. alright. he knows that bez isnt going to be convinced not to race by anyone let alone sava... he'd race with a leg hanging off if it wouldnt prevent him from changing gears and sava knows that and hates it and loves him for it in equal measure and he is feeling weird about all of that standing here in this room (which is much less like a hotel room and much more like. someones bedroom. as you said intimate..) with the lights down low (terrified that thats bc of bez's head) with bez seeming happy to see him but looking at him a little warily (they dont actually do this kind of thing its crossing several lines they havent crossed before)

literallyyy sava knowing the objective reasons he's being brought out for this race and he can tell himself those as much as he wants but can't shake the feeling that its also. in fact possibly MOSTLY. massimo rivola victimisation slash enabling slash orchestrating what he believes is the best environment for success. for bez.

and yeah it feels - sitting at home watching bez crash and crash and not being able to do ANYTHING.... god forbid he saw the mandalika fan video. has been in this sport long enough to know that just bc bez was cleared does not mean - like especially with something like that - and the fact that sava knows exactly what rivola will expect him to help with. as you said having the wholeeee 24+ hour flight to sit in his discomfort letting himself think about avoiding it somehow but knowing that tbh he was always going to do what rivola wanted anyway (and the thing is he can't really disagree. it is better . if bez is going to get back on the bike anyway its better if sava's there if that's what he needs. its better if he's. comfortable. if he feels reassured. right. but sava feels weird about it.. i wish i could cite dms bc literally the stuff we've said before about the multifaceted responsibility he feels toward bez....)

unfortunately limited time for sava to sit on the pitwall destroying his nail beds when he also has to ride jorge's bike and tbh he does not know whether thats better or worse. as if sitting there burning holes in the tv screens would mean that bez doesnt get hurt this time. as if he would be any more able to do anything than he was on his couch at home or riding a bike straight past an incident trying not to look too hard in case he lost focus and ended up in the gravel himself. anyway yeah so he's trying to go back to the routine of jorge's first absence where he was test-riding and helping bez but like. yeah things have changed. since march. and he can't shake those crashes. so far this season despite his growing discomfort with rivola's methods he has still. toed the line in the way that he follows bez's indications lets bez seek comfort. does his job doesnt let himself need anything (he's a PROFESSIONAL. etc). but maybe he can't help ittt
