"So, I guess I charmed you after all," I said, falling into the chair opposite of 'Raphael'.
He closed his book, shrugging lightly: "You did win my attention by fascinating me. So. Yes. You did"
"Awwww, you're so romantic," I laughed.
And he actually smiled, lightly, saying: "And you are comfortable telling me that, knowing that it irritates and antagonises me"
"Doc, I don't think you have a lot of friends with that kind of attitude," I looked him up and down. Even in a Shirt and jeans he still looked like a doctor. Maybe it was the glasses.
Maybe because he tilted his head like that, judging me: "... usually, the friends I try to have don't bite romantic interests, though."
"I'll have you know my interests were mostly sexual in nature," I pointed out, because it was true.
He wasn't that thrown off: "And you wish to hereby inform me there is no sexual or haemophiliac interest in me?"
"Ah, you got me. I should hide in shame," I chuckled.
"But you're perfectly fine in not getting those satisfied," he pointed the pen he had been fiddling with at me.
Another sentence that didn't stop me from smiling: "... eh, I'm veeery patient. I've got all eternity, after all"
The fiddling restarted, he tapped the pen against his other hand: "... I don't"
"And that's why we're actually here, isn't it? You want to know how I am possible and I am... curious, about the soulmate-thing, however short-lived. We'll get along until we're satisfied, mh?"
He nodded.
And then huffed: "I'll have you know it's customary to actually ring a doorbell before entering a home"
I held up the phone: "But I got an invitation all written out and ready"
"'We'll meet at 3 am in room number 226' is an invitation?," he raised a brow.
"It declares that it's not your home. And it demands my presence, sooo... yes, gives me free reign," I smiled a little.
"Huh," he jotted a little note down, "... so I'm just going to ask you a bunch of questions and you answer"
"And I'll ask you questions in return, that's the theory, yeah"
He looked slightly more relaxed, after this: "So... how did my blood taste?"
I perked up. This was... this was a question, certainly, I barked a laugh before answering: "Ah. Good. Quite... quite delicious, actually. With it being... bagged and all. It's not usually good that way. Fresher is... better"
"There were no preservatives in it," he tilted his head again.
"Oh, I am aware. Fresh is still just the better option by far. Also because I can't actually... suck the blood with my teeth. I kind of... needed to use it like a drinking pouch? It was rather strange," it really was.
And he... looked amused, positively smirking, so I said: "... did... are you actually laughing about this?"
"I did wonder about the lack of holes in the package," he said, sounding amused.
"... I could take a fresh bite right now," I growled.
He nodded: "Yeah, you could, but you won't"
He was right, but I still frowned: "... what makes you so sure about that?"
"The 'soulmate thing', actually. I don't really believe in it either, as you already said. But... it's easy to get along and understand was my wife does and wants. It makes sense to me. However much it doesn't apply to me, I understand. And... everything you said made sense as well. This threat just now... didn't. Me saying that might convince you to try, but... not worth it, is it?," he smiled when he looked up from his notepad for a second.
I frowned a little more: "... so... when I think something is right it's very likely it is?"
"Mmmh, you could say that. Of course, you're old, you might have different world views, but we should be... on one wave length, I suppose"
I went a little bit on a limb there: "... so it's actually somewhat likely that you do let me drink your blood today. That you're curious"
He stopped tapping his pen and looked over at me, then sighed: "... for the sake of honesty: I actually would not mind. At all. But Gabrielle would. And she is worried as it is"
I raised a brow: "But doc, you don't even know all the side effects"
"I would have to experience them then, no? I haven't exactly heard anything about bloodless corpses or sudden anaemia in the last decade, so... it can't be that bad"
"... your blood is delicious, though"
"All the more to keep me alive," he shrugged.
And I bit my lip, chewing on it slightly, then I said: "No chance to worry Gabrielle, mh?"
"Nope, and if you suggest this again, you might never get the chance. First I have to get to know the consequences"
"Awww"
"That's true. But it's also reasonable. I don't want to forget the whole encounter as you said might happen," he looked miffed about that.
"And not let you remember this nice talk we had? Noooo," it definitely went better than the first one...
He tilted his head again: "So you can actually control it"
"Yepp", I nodded, "So. The soulmate thing... how good is it with guessing the best sex-moves"
... I decided it was a lot of fun to make him roll his eyes.
