‘Superweapon’ Gems: A Steven Universe theory
Been thinking about the absence of some of the rarer types of gemstones from the Steven Universe series so far. The really rare ones, like Zektzerite and Musgravite. I don’t think rarity has anything to do with one’s place in the Gem Homeworld’s Hierarchy, but I do believe that it might be related to strength.
Diamonds in real life are not that rare, but they are considered to be the leaders of Gem society.
We’ve seen how Homeworld views some Gems as property instead of people. How do you think they’d treat a very rare Gem that has dangerous powers, even above other Gems?
I like to think that Gem-people based on the ultra-rare do exist, but are kept away from everyone else, either in a stasis vault or a secluded cage. They’re the nuclear weapons of their kind, only unleashed when things have gone really bad.
In ‘Message Received’, Peridot referred to The Cluster as ‘just one Geo-weapon’. Think about that for a second. A giant monster larger than the solar system is ‘just one Geo-weapon’, which implies that they already have weapons even scarier than The Cluster.
What if the Homeworld’s leadership discovered Ultra-rare Gems born on one or a few of their colonies, and turned them into superweapons? Maybe they got ‘poofed’ and installed onto a device, like how Lapis Lazuli was placed into a mirror.
Personally I think it would be even more frightening if they’re in humanoid form and are fully aware, but have no problem whatsoever with erasing entire worlds by themselves.

When I die, I want flamethrowers attached to my tombstone, constantly spewing fire so no creature will ever poop on it. Even bird poop would be vaporized before it hits the ground.

I've been working as an animator and concept artist since 2013 and it is really frustrating when children/teenagers tell me they don't want 'cartoony' aesthetics (like TF2 or Rayman) because they want to play something that makes them seem 'cool' or 'grown up'.
From my experience, it seems to have been drilled into them by their parents or their friends that anything that doesn't look 'real' is for babies. Kids, wanting to be mature is fine, but the fact that you're just judging things by looks alone is already proof you're not actually mature after all.
