oh so many as well. i follow a few cover artists and there are plenty of covers that i prefer to the originals!
one example i'll share tho....
nightmare - lollia
i think the vibe of this cover resonates so so much more with me than the original. for a song about misogyny, mental illness, and trauma, i think the angrier tone is much much more fitting than the og. not to say it's bad, of course! but i like this a lot.

oh SO MANY OF THEM LMAO... i love taking songs and interpreting additional meanings for them. BUT one that i'll share is this one:
bruno is orange - hop along
from what i understand, the intended meaning of this song is that it's about an interracial relationship that ends in tragedy, and iirc it's referencing either a real life story or a fictional one, but i'm not sure on the details of that.
and i definitely don't want to take away from that meaning, but i remember a little while ago i was listening to it and some of the lyrics resonated ALSO as a very queer song, and i thought about it from a transmasc perspective and went "oh shit oh fuck."
(mainly the lyrics in the bridge that go "did you hear about that mother? / broke her daughter's legs in two / and said 'it's too dangerous out there to walk! / so i had to save you.'" that reminds me So Much of the specific flavor of transphobia that infantilizes transmascs and says that they can't make their own choices and must be "saved" through violence and the violation of their bodies and identities. just... idk. that hit different.)
while this wasn't the artist's intent, i still like thinking about this interpretation.
