Allison and I were bored out of our minds. We were currently at her house since her parents were having a party. She was able to invite me and I was glad to come even if it was pretty boring. It was a bunch of hosh posh people and I felt totally out of place. I mean I was wearing a costume like everyone else but it was definitely not fancy. I was wearing an angel costume while everyone else was wearing ball gowns and suits. Allison being no different.
We were quietly talking and walking around her house when we noticed that Max Dennison and what I assumed to be his little sister were downstairs by the bowl of candy. We made our way downstairs.
“Max Dennison,” Allison called out gaining his attention. His eyes immediately went to me and he whipped his hat off his head and put both arms behind his back.
“Allison, (y-y/n),” He breathed out nervously.
“Oh (y/n), huh,” His little sister spoke out. Max gave his little sister a tiny glare and looked back at us.
“I thought you weren’t into Halloween,” I spoke out with a small grin recalling the previous conversation we had.
“I’m not,” Max stated firmly. “I’m just taking my little sister, Dani, around.” He grabbed Dani’s hand and met us half way. “I always do it,” He grinned.
“My parents made him,” Dani retaliates. I tried to hide my giggle as Max shoves her lightly.
“Do you guys want some cider?” Allison asked politely.
“Sure,”
“No,” The siblings countered each other.
Allison gets three cups of cider while Max and I awkwardly stood next to each other. We both were smiling shyly at each other when Allison made her way back to us. I took a sip while Max says thanks.
“So, how’s the party?” Max asked.
“Boring,” Allison and I said at the same time. “Jinx,” We copied making us laugh slightly.
“We’ve got candy duty,” She explained walking back towards the candy bowl.
“I love your costume Dani,” I complemented smiling at the younger girl.
“Thank you,” Dani smiled. “I like yours too. Of course, I couldn’t wear anything like that because I don’t have any...” She turned and looked at Max. “What do you call ‘em, Max? Yabos?” I almost choked into laughter. Max spits some of his cider back into his cup and stares at Dani full of shock. Allison of course is laughing.
“Max loves your yabos,” Dani continued. “In fact he loves ‘em.” I started chuckling and I felt my cheeks heat up. Max looked at me and smiled awkwardly and then went back to gaping at his sister. I felt completely awkward and rocked back and forth on my feet.
“I’m really into witches,” Allison speaks up changing the subject.
“Really?” Dani asks. “Me too!” I glanced at Max and he once again awkwardly smiled at me. They then got into a short conversation about the Sanderson sisters and how her mother used to run the museum.
“Well, why don’t we go to this old Sanderson house?” Max asked which was replied with scared looks from Allison and Dani. I don’t see the big deal not gonna lie.
“I don’t see why not,” I said looking at Allison.
She let out a sigh but smiled, “Okay, lets go get dressed first.”

There was a new guy on school and honestly...he was really cute. Yet here he was offering his number to my sister who seemed completely uninterested. I knew why he liked Allison though, she was pretty, witty, and wasn't afraid to say no to your face. Guys wished she was their girlfriend. Girls wished they looked like her. Here I was, her sister no one saw...or would be looked over as Allison's twin sister.
I loved her. I truly did. I mean she's my sister. But that doesn't mean I wasn't incredibly jealous of her. She always got what she wanted. She was pretty. Everyone loved her. Here I am. Her shadow. I'm expected to be like her in every way. If I make a mistake its the end of the world, but if she makes a mistake its all 'everyone makes mistakes'. I sighed out as she rejected the cute boy named Max.
The school day ended and me and Allison down the path talking about how excited we were for Halloween. Max caught up to us (we were walking slowly) with his bike.
"Allison," He spoke out catching our attention.
"Hi," She said politely.
"Hi. Look I didn't mean to embarrass you in class," He apologized.
"You didn't," She said stopping. I just stood there awkwardly not knowing what to do.
"My name is Max Dennison," He introduced going to shake her hand.
"Yeah, I know," Allison replied shaking his hand. "This is my twin sister (y/n) by the way." I waved and awkwardly smiled wishing she didn't include me into their little conversation.
"Uh, you just moved here last week?" I asked trying to join in but lowkey sounding like a creep.
"Yeah, last week," He nodded with a cute smile.
"Must be a big change huh," I continued nervously. I noticed Allison try to sneakily walk away making me mentally panic.
"Yeah, that's for sure," He replied back, not seemed to notice my twins absence.
"You don't like it here?" I asked. The tone in his last reply seemed like he didn't wanna be here.
"The leaves are great, but..." He trailed off looking off into the distance. "I don't know. All this Halloween stuff." He shrugged. I felt slightly offended, Halloween was my favorite holiday.
"What's not to like?" I asked out with furrowed eyebrows. "You get to dress up, get free candy, see all the other cool costumes."
He raised his eyebrows and an amused smile formed onto his pink lips, "You still trick or treat?"
"Of course I do!" I exclaimed. "I love to dress up in something I wouldn't normally be able to wear and I love getting free candy!"
"Aren't you a little old for that?" Max asked.
"You're never too old to trick or treat!" I exclaimed once more crossing my arms. Max seemed to look me over for a second before looking back into my eyes.
"Does that mean I'll see you out on the streets during Halloween?" He asked.
I nodded my head, "Of course. But I should probably get going now." I looked down the path I needed to walk to get home to see Allison got pretty far. Max also looked where I looked and he seemed surprised that she was gone. He looked back at me and grabbed a piece of paper from his jacket pocket.
"Here's my number," He said, a rosy pink hue dusting his cheeks. Taking the paper, I realized its the one my sister sneakily gave back to him after he gave it to her. I felt myself blush but also felt a little hurt. I was just an after thought. I looked at him and frowned a bit.
"You sure?" I asked.
"...about what?" He asked confused, his smile also leaving his face.
"You sure you want to give this to me?" I clarified.
"Why wouldn't I?" He asked confused.
I rolled my eyes and shrugged my shoulders, "You seem to like Allison more."
He blinked a couple times before smiling, "I like you more now."
I looked to the side feeling my previous blush return. I put the paper in my pocket and looked back at him, "Well, see you next time Max." I waved before sprinting to catch up with my sister who was very far ahead. I glanced back and saw Max just sitting there watching me walk off almost like he was in a daze. Once I caught up to my sister she just smiled at me.
"So, you and Max huh?" She asked teasingly.
I slapped her shoulder lightly feeling my cheeks heat up even more, "Shut up."
