So every single hero gets infected in the crimson curse au? That's some scary thinking. I guess I have 2 questions. Who were the last to get infected? I imagine it must have been horrifying to watch all you comrades get infected, and wondering if it's going to happen to you. Another question, whats the reaction in the hamlet after they kill on of the bosses, and every single person is suddenly cured. Only to discover they could get infected again and again....
The last to be infected was the Antiquarian, who has avoided all possible contact up to the point of her infection with cursed creatures through both carefully picking the expeditions according to infestation levels and having the other heroes shield her as much as possible. She was lucky to be the one uninfected hero in the roster, but she had to live in constant fear that one of her fellow heroes might turn on her. She contracted the curse when her luck finally ran dry and she was bitten by a mutated mosquito before she could have anyone protect her.
When the Baron was slain, curing the heroes, the revelation of an all-encompassing cure to the curse almost made them celebrate, but they all knew that the infection can’t be beaten back by the death of a single monstrosity. It’s only a matter of time before they all make a return to vampirism and the constant struggle for control over their own urges. The next time someone is infected after the Baron’s death, it’s accepted with a solemn grimness, but now they know there’s a cure somewhere in the Courtyard.
