#max: threads

to say that max is nervous would be understatement. even with years of practice, using his quirk would always make him nervous, and the fact that he's using it today for combat practice only makes him worried more. it's why he put more fire extinguishers than normal (he has 4, one on each side of the room) just in case because you'll never know. practice can be really fun, if it really comes down to it, but there's nothing wrong with being too careful.

in max's understanding, kiwoo's quirk is teleportation - a quirk he finds to be really interesting and challenging to work with. it's probably why he had wanted to ask the other male for practice. it's a good opportunity for them both, and because he had been really curious to see kiwoo's quirk in action.

"that's everything. i think we're good to go. when in doubt, teleport on one of the extinguishers, yeah?" he says as he fiddles with his gloves, making sure they're fit and snug. the goal is to work on their control and kiwoo's reflexes. he's going to need to be consciously aware of where he's aiming and make sure kiwoo stays safe. he literally can't slip up. " you ready?"

the blank screen of his phone stares back at him. max has lost count on how many times he’s tried to convince himself (in the last half hour nonetheless) that it’s fine, that he’s not bothering his brother in anyway, but he’s still worried. he tells himself he’s being dumb, that it’ll only take him a second to ask and even then he knows sinjae would say yes. it’s been a while since they hung out anyway, and being the youngest sibling that he is, he admittedly misses his hyung.

max sighs. he’s being ridiculous, he knows. it’s not like sinjae had turned him down without a reason. the older male would probably flick him on the forehead if he knew he’s being this dumb. the thought has him subconsciously rubbing at his forehead. deciding he’s given himself enough headache, he summons enough courage by reaching for his fidget cube and taps on his phone’s screen to send his brother a text.

[outgoing → hyung] → hyung~ → how are you? are you busy? → you want to hang out with me today?

the heat isn’t too bad, which he’s very grateful for. his quirk comes with a few downsides, and that includes his normal body temperature running higher than normal people. it makes summer or completely normal sunny days like this feel like some kind of torture. it’s why he’s always preferred wearing simple jeans and a t-shirt. max sighs, looking down at his phone to check the time. he came a little earlier than what he and weili had agreed on, so he made sure he stays at the corner to wait where the older male could easily spot him, but is still far enough from people coming in and out.

there’s a tinted window beside him. max looks at his reflection, a hand unconsciously reaching up to fix his hair. he tells himself this doesn’t mean anything special, that he only wanted to catch up with his hyung, but his crazy mind continuously brings up thoughts he’d rather not have. at least not right now.

maybe i should have put more effort in dressing up, or styled up my hair a little better- ah, i should stop.

his thoughts has him reaching for the fidget cube that he always carries around with him. it helps, sort of, to keep his thoughts in check. he probably needs his daily fix of iced coffee. max moves from his spot to enter a nearby cafe so he can get himself one.
