Max knew he was playing with fire (no pun intended). It was a horrifically dangerous game to play, but they’d gone out and he was hoping for the majority of her attention for the night. Things had mostly been going his way until someone came over to talk to Ayda and then suddenly they were the one with most of her attention. He’d sat patiently for a bit, hoping that the conversation would be over quickly and they’d be left alone, but it just dragged on. After a few minutes of fighting not to roll his eyes in annoyance, Max had muttered that he was going to go and get another shot, which he did. But on his way back, it was easy enough to see that the person still had not left.
It wasn’t the best decision, but he knew it was a surefire way to grab her attention and in his defense, he’d not let anyone put their hands on him for very long. No more than twenty seconds at most before slinking away into the crowd of dancing people, making sure to stay very deliberately within her line of sight. He wasn’t sure when he’d finally felt her eyes on him, but when he looked over, the unfamiliar person to him had gone and he took the opportunity to look over at her, an innocent smile on his face, not bothering to move unless she called him back. The hands on his hips didn’t seen to keen on letting him go either.
