there’s definitely something about silverflint vs maxanne. it’s something about it. silver’s narrative twin is max but in terms of these two relationships he more closely parallels w anne, who is defined by her loyalty to the people she cares abt and very little else, who consistently has trouble knowing herself and identifying a real sense of self, who allows max to bring out parts of her she never accepted or understood before. max did with anne what flint failed to do with silver.
