There's always someone...
William B. Allen, a black Floridian, history teacher and conservative political thinker has stated that it is unfair to judge Florida's new school curriculum, regarding black history without reading it.
He states that it emphasizes the resilience of slave community in Florida and the U.S. in the face of adversity. I'm not sure how he describes the nature of that "adversity", but apparently that is irrelevant.
I agree you should know what you are criticizing before you criticize it, but how many times do we have to establish that slavery was evil before we can take it for granted?
Max Naumann received his law degree from the University of Berlin. As a Jew in pre-war Germany, he founded the Association of German National Jews, an organization that advocated Nazism as something that would be good for the German Jewish population, and worked with Hitler's ministers toward that end.
It took five minutes to look up the historical parallels between these two men and the nature of their message.
So if a Jew could say that Nazism could be a good thing, and a black American can say that teaching slavery wasn't all that bad for early African Americans is correct, well... I guess maybe we should all rethink our position on these two historical atrocities...
NOT!
