Oc backstory, a little summary

Mawar’s mother, Elena, was one of four Oni who went to Ninjago to recruit/ kill the FSM if he doesn’t cooperate to allying himself with the Oni. Not as one of the warlords as there’s only 3 and her as the Oni of Vengeance’s right-hand. It’s stated that Mystake betrayed and killed the other two original warlords after seeing the realm that the FSM made. Which Mystake spared her to give her a choice.

Elena was given the choice to stand by Mystake or be killed alongside the other Oni she served and ultimately chose loyalty towards Mystake. Even if it meant betraying her own kind. Years and years went by as the pair stood by the FSM and seen the sepertine wars. It was then when Elena decided to lay low in a remote village near where The royal family lived and changed her physical appearance to a normal human.

Months passed by before Elena met a human, Mawar’s father- Flynn, and the two fallen in love with each other. Therefore, Mawar was created. Flynn is aware of Elena’s past as an Oni and everything so he wasn’t that fazed when Mawar started to develop her Oni features. But Elena on the other hand, was terrified for her daughter. It was no secret that her offspring would inevitably have Oni DNA, but it still worries her.

As Mawar grows up, she was taught to hide any negative emotions. The most you could get out of her was a huff of annoyance before sighing and smiling again. And to other kids, it just looks… weird. Children tend to not understand things so complicated so seeing another kid not get angry like them was weird. Naturally, Mawar grew up to be soft-spoken and an introvert. Not rude in any way, but enough to keep her distance.

Meeting other characters

Harumi

One of the few nights Harumi decided to sneak out of the palace, she was met face to face with Mawar. Curiosity got the better of Mawar when she wandered too close to the palace and met the princess. It took them a long while before Harumi trusted Mawar since she was still bitter about being a princess and distrustful of new people. From there, a ‘beautiful’ friendship grew.

As the pair grew up together, without the knowledge of the royals because they weren’t to fond with anyone who isn’t royal, Mawar started to trust Harumi with her secret. Of being half-oni, which causes Harumi to remember that she heard Garmadon’s voice and found the Oni mask of deception. That’s when her plan was set in motion.

But Harumi kept that information to herself, even if it meant betraying her only real friend that she made. The one who sees past her ‘tittle’, the one who showed her the freedom she never had in the palace. And having a descendent of someone who was linked to the Oni mask of Vengeance- Harumi knew that Mawar could play a part in her plan for the future.

But for now, Harumi was content to have her real friend by her side.

Mystake

The birth of Mawar was told by Elena herself. So in a way- Mystake knew of Mawar’s existence as it means there’s another half-breed Oni living. Mawar only knew of Mystake’s existence when she was old enough to know more about the story of her mother’s past as an Oni. At first, Mawar was weary that there were other half-breeds like Wu and Garmadon and to an extent- Lloyd being a quarter-breed Oni.

Not because she wanted to be the only half-breed or smt, but because she knows firsthand how destructive Oni powers could be. Mawar did managed to get in contact with Mystake to ask more about her Oni linage. Because being a right-hand to a warlord and an actual warlord was two very different things. During her stay, Mystake did help Mawar with learning how to transform into her Oni side without hurting herself.

How exactly does Mawar’s powers work?

Her powers appearances is heavily linked to her feelings- that’s why she’s taught to keep calm no matter the situation.

So if her powers flair up, people around her tend to hear the sounds around them distort before immediate silence.

Like nothing happened- like Mawar didn’t just lose control over her powers for a split second.

Every time her powers activate, her body feels like it’s glitching/fading in and out of reality.

Which causes her to shut down and her Oni side to front- not as a protector but to cause more chaos when Mawar isn’t mentally stable.

As for the memory loss towards other people- when her powers activate it causes others to forget about Mawar till she deactivates her powers.

Mawar can’t choose when it happens because when her Oni side is present, she loses all control of herself.
