above all, mavi was raised not to question—and she really dared not question joseph. she simply never expected to share the same room as him, much less have an interaction with the man, despite how much of her life she had given to the church. as did her mother and father. duty was highly regarded in her family, and something mavi grew up knowing to put first, but she couldn't quite pinpoint the gnawing feeling in the pit of her stomach when he requested such a thing. her big doe eyes fell on the leg he patted, and she forced herself to suck in a deep breath. "o-okay," her tone was hushed, silent, as if respectful of the place they occupied. with one foot in front of the other, mavi closed the distance between them, turning around when she reached him so she could occupy the same leg he had been patting moments ago. her back was rigid. it was hard to feel comfortable when she never had such proximity with any man. it felt especially wrong with jesus christ nailed to the cross not far away from them. as if he was watching what was happening. "like this? w-what did you want me on your lap for?"

He heaves himself into the examination room chair, scowling at the nurse. It's too late to not scowl now, but he has to admit: it's less aggravating getting checked over when the nurse is cute. Too young for him to actually be interested in, but still. "No injections. I've given enough blood." He grunts, as if he's the one in charge of what needs to be done today. @freshcir
