normally, once jo left campus for the day, she wouldn't set foot back in the lab for 48 hours. she had TAs for that. only she'd left her cell phone at her desk and it was the only lifeline she had to get into contact with jake, so, halfway home, she'd had to double back for it. his swim practice wasn't over for another hour, but it was just her luck that some kind of emergency would happen the one time she didn't have her phone. when she reached the lab, she was surprised to find the door unlocked and stepped inside, expecting to find either an empty room (save for the cadavers) or some gunners trying to study. she found herself standing across from an unfamiliar face as she snatched her phone from the front table, eyes narrowing slightly. "are you a student here?"
