Awe thank you! I’ve been thinking about doing a post on maths (especially because I sat the new GCSE in it) so I’ll do that here <3

How to get that Grade 9 in your Maths GCSE!

- My no. 1 tip will always be past papersDespite the fact there are limited past papers for the new GCSE, past papers are still the best way to revise and practice your maths! Work through the papers ensuring you answer all questions correctly and if wrong, find why you got it wrong and how to fix it.

Firstly, you need to make sure you do all the specimen papers provided by your exam board. These will be really accurate to the style of your paper and you will be amazed how often similar style questions come up! From there I’d recommend these for AQA or these for Edexcel - they’re made by CGP and are all we did in class for the summer term of year 11. Ideally, you may well run out of past papers and so, try using papers from the old spec or past papers from other exam boards. There will inevitably be some difference but for old papers, the last few questions on the paper will be grade 8 questions! Well worth a try.

- Keep track of your weak areasThis is something I did that helped me understand what I needed to improve on. Try creating a spreadsheet and every time you get a question wrong, note down what the topic was and then over time you can check off when you work on it.Alternatively, (and I did this for a lot of the mathsy physics units) when you get a question wrong note it down on a flashcard and put them away for closer to exam season. Then, work your way through them to ensure you’ve improved!

- Use your resourcesA lot of people in my year use the CGP Revision guides and work books, subsequently finding them invaluable. Personally, they were alright when I couldn’t find any other information on it but personally, there are far greater resources!

Best Websites for GCSE Maths:Corbett Maths : I used this daily during revision season, they have a 5-a-day selection of questions. These help keep your mind on the ball even if you are not doing any other forms of maths revision that day.Maths Genie : Honestly, I give a great deal of my maths GCSE to this guy. His video tutorials are fab! Being able to work through the topics increasing in difficulty I also found useful as it allowed me to gauge my progress. If you’re ever stuck with a topic, this guy should definitely be your first port of call!Mr Barton Maths : An all round god site for practice and help, well worth a look!

- Always attempt all the questions!May seem obvious, but a number of times I just annotated a few angles in a diagram or did a few simple sums in a question I didn’t really understand and ended up getting a mark or two for it is ridiculous! Just give every question a shot and you may get lucky!!
