#MathewBarney #priest This series came about when I was at the #venicebiennale with Ed Ruscha and we walked by a news stand and we saw the funniest thing. Like fireman calendars the Italians made a priest calendar of young very good looking men. I said Ed wouldn’t it be funny if I shot all my artists friends as the high priests of Modern Art? Ed’s response was “I want to be the first!”. Back in NY I shot Ed dressed as a priest on my roof. Soon after Damien Hirst, Jeff Koons, Mathew Barney, Maurizio Cattelan and George Condo. About 20 in all. The funny thing about Mathew here was that before being an artist he wanted to be a priest!
