I'm already at 1000 posts and I haven't reblogged all the post i have on my other blogs đ¤Ą
It drives me nuts that two infinities are and aren't the same number.
They are, because if you need 10 pennies from an infinite number of pennies, you can easily get them, regardless which infinite supply of pennies you choose.
(which kind of begs the question of if multiple infinities of one item even exist or if it is all simply a continuous infinity split into subcategories, but that's a debate for another time)
They aren't, because if you have two (hypothetically accumulating) infinite amount of pennies, one accumulating one at a time and one accumulating 10 at a time, at any given time when you check on them, the first will still have less than the second.
The difference, theoretically, is the existence of time, and I'm not sure how to explain how. I think it's because the entire purpose of the second one is gradual (aka over time) accumulation, while the purpose of the first is *the infinity already existing in what could be considered completion*
(but what is a complete infinity? It is not possible outside of thought, really)
And don't even get me started on countable versus uncountable infinities. I don't know understand them at all, even though I have to acknowledge their existence.
This video lead me to learning of the existence of them. And I've been slowly going nuts over the concept of all this ever since.
