I have a student who doesn't speak much English and I'm so happy he speaks Spanish so I can actually use the language I know! I'm so happy to be working in a district that needs my language skills, and even though I'm not the best at speaking, he seemed to be responding really well when I was trying!

Join educator and author Patsy Shupe-Shelburne as she shares strategies for raising mathematics proficiency through direct instruction that's designed to address deficiencies and accelerate grade-level learning. Her hands-on approach was developed through more than 40 years of experience as a classroom teacher, curriculum facilitator, school administrator, and educational consultant.
Pat's current work focuses on developing elementary and middle school curriculum that combines researched practices while maintaining a keen awareness of the time constraints and instructional demands placed on classroom teachers. Using examples from her own Tier I and Tier II intervention program, Pat will demonstrate a variety of strategies and tools that have proven successful in raising student achievement in mathematics.
