What have you have been thinking about lately that you haven't gotten the opportunity to talk about with anyone?
*deep breath in* okay! so, i HAVE talked about a lot of the things i've been thinking about lately, but i could talk about this all day, SO!
i've been learning a lot about circuits and how to translate numbers from one number system to another. we usually count using the decimal number system, where one digit can represent values from 0 to 9 - aka "base 10", because if you have one digit, you can represent 10 numbers, then if you have two digits, you can represent 100 numbers (10 squared), then 1000 numbers with 3 digits (10 cubed), 10,000 with 4, 100,000 with 5...
but there's also binary, or "base 2" - it's what computers use, since a value can either be "on" or "off". but there's also hexadecimal, or "base 16"! but what's really cool about binary and hexadecimal, is that it's SUPER easy to convert from binary and hexadecimal, and vice versa!
it's pretty easy to convert binary or hexadecimal to decimal, but it can be harder to convert decimal to binary or hexadecimal. BUT, converting binary to hexadecimal, or hexadecimal to binary, is SUPER easy, because 4 binary digits converts EXACTLY to 1 hexadecimal digit! so, if you're converting from binary to hex, you can "squish" 4 digits to 1 digit, and if you're converting from hex to binary, you can "expand" 1 digit to 4 digits!
i'm actually thinking about making a little calculator to convert hexadecimal, binary, and decimal numbers to other types :D i know computers have some sort of implicit way to translate them already, but. i want to code it myself. for fun lol
