What do you do when life’s got you down and someone breaks your heart? Well, you take the high road. No one can make you feel inferior without your consent. You have to show the world that no one can sabotage your dreams.Â
Instead of going after my ex-boyfriend for emotionally cheating on me and leaving me for another girl, I decided to kick ass on my math assessment and throw myself into my academics, volunteering and social life.Â
The math assessment took place on Tuesday and involved reading a Marketing Science paper and answering various calculus questions related to the paper. The basic principles tested were first and second derivatives, partial differentiation and optimization. The formula was extremely lengthy and required using the chain rule and product rule and extensively showing 15+ lines of simplification. A test that I assumed I would finish in one hour ended up taking 2 hours and 15 minutes. I was the first to finish and am confident in my answers. That’ll show everyone they shouldn’t doubt my quantitative skills! It also shows that I’m stronger than I knew. This heartbreak has knocked me down harder than anything has ever done so before, but I know there is a plan for me and that I will succeed if I set my mind to it. In the words of the brilliant Taylor Swift, “back then I swore I was gonna marry him someday, but I realized some bigger dreams of mine.”Â
If life’s got you down, never give up on yourself. You are the most important person in your own life. You deserve better. Get out there and show the world what you got. Every successful person has two beliefs: the future can be better than the present, and I have the power to make it so. This is your chance to start over and make him wonder why he ever would’ve chosen to walk away.Â
