Lore24 Compilation - June
Another month, another step down in the year’s challenge! (toots a tiny horn)
Following on from May’s bestiary theme, for this month, once again we went with a theme with a supremely tortured pun. The idea was to lay some adventure hooks, using the locations fleshed out in March’s posts. Each location would have its own unique notice board, on which NPCs would put up community notices that would potentially lead players to quests. See if you can guess which board goes where! Please enjoy - Junventures.
1 - You see a notice board, made of a dark wood with a thin coating of ice. Many signs are posted, but one catches your eye…
“Help Wanted: Must Win Bet
Adventurers wanted to settle a bet. My friend claims that there is nothing to the south, as if the world falls into nothingness as on maps. I protest his foolishness, but he will not be swayed! Reward for accompaniment to venture past the southern border, and bonus for a safe return.”
2 - You see a notice board, made of salvaged driftwood, warped slightly by salt. Many signs are posted, but one catches your eye…
“Concerned Citizens!
I know that you all are worried about the abandoned ship that appears to be docked out in the bay, past the known safe passages. We are seeking a brave soul, but will accept more!, to investigate. If while you’re there, you could also send the vessel on its way somehow, I believe our fishermen would appreciate it!”
3 - You see a notice board, made of a light wood inlaid with gold filigree. Many signs are posted, but one catches your eye…
“I heard from my mate’s friend’s wife that the Mint is actually keeping only a BIT of what they actually keep in the vaults! Most of the good stuff is stashed underground, just outside the city. Equal share for joining in, shares go up if someone else doesn’t make it.
No backstabbing. Can’t do it again. Time critical.”

Work will largely consist of construction of a performance stage, so we can show off our best!”

Found a bird in jungle. Pretty. Flaps wings like storm. White of cloud and blue of sky. Does not appreciate good story. Every morning wakes up dead. Unmoving and cold. Grey of rain. Each night, wakes again. Singing to friends? Singing, yes. Will trade for bird unless is yours. Then you claim in trade for story. Good story. Like food but for heart.”

I’ve lived a long life, and done a great deal of things, this is undeniable. But for all my achievements, I have never scaled Mt. Sanmaya; the tallest peak of the land. There has to be something up there! But my age betrays me. If you carry me up there, you may have your choice of my life’s treasures. You will not be disappointed.”

Last time I went out for a ride, I swear I heard someone singing. Even though I tried to look, I couldn’t see anyone. But the sound was real! “Will Pay For Water
A week back, five blue lights appeared around my well, making lines between them in a star shape. No matter what we try, nothing can get past those lines. Even trying to break the well underneath them! We’re getting desperate. We’ve already accepted the loss of crops, but we’re getting so thirsty. We need water!”

“Many herbs grow out in the wilds. I’m too frail to go myself, and it’s not something that can be cured. But I know they can provide relief to others, and I need to prove my worth. It’s the only way I can be sure they wouldn’t abandon me. So if you are able to travel out to get me some herbs (list provided), I can convince the others to let me stay. Thank you.”

Join me on my next hunt. If you DARE!!!”

While cleaning my grandfather’s estate, I stumbled across a pile of old maps. I will be mounting an expedition; please join if you have information.”

Too many people forget that I’m one of the original gang bosses in this town. So it’s time for a big plan, and I need some extra hands. No one in this town is trustworthy enough though. I will steal the bridge out of town to prove I’ve still got it.
Yes, the whole bridge.

“Grandson Wants A Gift
I’ve always tried to do right by my family, even if I had to stay away from them for so long in my younger days. So when my grandson said that he wanted a flying carpet for his birthday, how am I supposed to say no? Actual question. I need to be able to deny him without guilt, or give him what he asked for. Any advice?”
So what did you think? Anything sound intriguing? Would you take any of these jobs? Let us know, and we’ll see you for July. And I’m sorry in advance. 😅
