▷ There were plenty of times where the angel had fallen from great heights and just as many times where he honestly had to question how he even survived the drop. This was definitely one of those times, as his head was currently whirling from his sudden tumble into gods know where.
He had been sent to explore this unfamiliar world by his goddess, who had stated that she sensed a strange energy rested beneath the surface of the land. This search had led the angel to a mountain cave which seemed as though it wasn’t really much aside from the large gaping hole at the cavern’s end. It seemed... awfully deep and dangerous, but by the time he had heard the light goddess’s warning to watch his step, the clumsy soldier had already tripped on a stone at the edge.
And now here he was, dazed and confused from his far drop into the earth, covered in scrapes and bruises from head to toe. So much for being cautious, but by the looks of things, his fall had been somewhat cushioned by the bed of golden flowers he had fallen into. How convenient!
“Ugh... Well, that was dumb of me,” Pit mumbled as he shook his head to clear out the dirt and dust that had gathered in his messy brown hair, “Now what do I do, Lady Palutena?”
He paused as he waited for a response, but to his surprise, her voice never came. Confused, the angel gazed upward to the hole he had just fallen from, as if searching for the goddess’s invisible presence above. “Lady Palutena?” He tried again, but only received silence once more. Color drained from the boy’s face as he realized that whatever they were sensing below the surface could have separated their telepathic connection, leaving him without a guide at such an unsettling time.
Well, wasn’t this just great? Not only was he trapped in an unknown place in a world he knew little to nothing about, but the exit was just above his head and he couldn’t fly out with his pathetic little wings. It was as if he was a small bird that had stumbled out of a nest from a mile high tree. Being a flightless angel was the absolutely worst.
Frowning deeply, Pit puffed out a sigh of defeat as he began to sort through his thoughts, trying to think of a plan for escape when he had suddenly heard movement nearby within the surrounding darkness. His head snapped in the direction of the sound, sapphire eyes wide with shock as he stared blindly in search of the source of the shifting noise. Panic quickly overtook his mind as he realized that his Silver Bow wasn’t at his side and he assumed it had fallen away from him somewhere on his way down. This was bad. His white feathered wings pressed to his back tensely as he scrambled to his feet, standing in a defensive stance as he prepared for whatever was coming for him.
