I recently changed my course of study to Art after a very rough couple of months where I had a mental breakdown and realized that I needed some major changes in my life.

There are about a million different things in my life that contributed to that breakdown, but the biggest were my PTSD, depression, and burnout. I have a tendency to work myself to death so I don’t have to sit alone with my thoughts. It’s a coping mechanism, but not a healthy one. My mental health has always been a complex and scary monster. Depression has always been there, but PTSD is a fairly new addition. I developed PTSD a few years ago after witnessing a death.

When it comes to relationships, I need someone who is fairly secure in themselves; I need a level of independence. I had a relationship in the past where my partner was… incessant. They were constantly worried that I would leave them. They were smothering me. I can’t handle that. I want someone who wants me, not someone who needs me.

I’m a very creative person, I love drawing and writing. Sometimes I can get so lost in what I’m working on that I’ll forget everything else. I go into a creative haze and forget the rest of the world exists. It can be good (it’s very productive) but I often forget to take care of myself when I get like that. My creative outlets are extremely important to me. They’re what fuel me, they get me out of bed in the morning.
