From top to bottom 1) Yunomi Matcha Basic Ceremonial Grade - June 2019 Grinding. $14.99/30g or $0.50/g 2) Yunomi Matcha Basic Ceremonial Grade - Dec 2018 Grinding 3) Sample bought at a premium grocer in UK from staff who came back from vacation: Package says it’s from Kyoto, and the best by date is 26 July 2020 (I’m guessing they use a 18 month shelf life rather than 12 months ... we are trying to replace matcha sold at Yunomi after 6 months). Price: $12.59/8x1g packets at today’s exchange rate. Cost of a 1g packet is definitely more than 30g, but $1.57/g.... I feel sorry for those in the UK... Tasting notes: this is our basic level so definitely there was an enjoyable level of bitterness but balanced with a strong note of creamy umami. That umami is nearly gone in the 7 month old grinding though the flavor is still smooth and the sample from the UK is about the same as our 7 month old basic grade though perhaps slightly less smooth.
