I hope that you don't mind that I chose to draw Master Anarchis younger rather than una abuelita :) perhaps this way people will view her as the role model Cyclonis wanted to follow, I'm certain Cyclonis has seen paintings of her.

Aka I gave this girl a family and then had to figure out why so many of them are absent from the show. This was the second most popular option in that poll I posted, so here we go.
I headcanon Cyclonia to be a matriarchy. Every ruler of the Empire since its founding has been a woman, with rare exceptions when the men take the position of regents for one reason or another. Even if the firstborn of a generation is a boy, they will never have a claim to the throne.

How did a 14 year old end up as empress of Cyclonia?
In the usual way: her predecessor (Anarchis) died and she was the next in line for the throne.
Cyclonia's a matriarchy, our rulers have always been women. So even though Master Cyclonis has two brothers and Larkspur is older than her, he was never going to be an Emperor. Though he and I are helping manage things while Cyclonis learns the ropes.
Her grandmother's death was pretty sudden and Cyclonis got the throne and her title the week afterwards. To tell you the truth, I don't think she's ready for this.
I'll still take her over her grandmother though.
