The Mara River is famous for the annual migration of wildebeest and zebra. What is seldom shown on documentaries is that the river is the northern extent of the migration and the animals cross from one side to the other on a regular basis in both directions. It can be a calm crossing or an extreme crossing as the animals literally leap off the river bank edges down meters.
