7:15 AM- Yoongi
(A/N: For the person requesting Yoongi to be braiding either his wife's or his daughter's hair! I hope you like it, let me know what you think! Feedback is appreciated!)
Growing up, you had this habit of staring at yourself in the mirror and trying to picture yourself older. You would always wonder how your hair would look, if it would be less frizzy. Would you skin be clear, would your cheeks be as squishy as they were at the time? You couldn't ever picture yourself past the age of 20 or so, wondering what your future would look like. The idea of being past your teens was so difficult to swallow, let alone picturing yourself married or something.
Being married was such a distant prospect, something an older person would do- never you.
You stared at yourself in the mirror now, wondering if you looked like the type of person who would be married with a kid. You still looked like yourself, maybe with less fluff to your cheeks, but it was still you.
"Did you wake up Da-eun?" Yoongi mumbled, stumbling into the bathroom behind you, still half asleep.
You laughed, taking in his sleepy appearance. Hair sticking up in the front and flattened in the back, mouth pulled into a lazy pout- Your husband didn't really enjoy waking up this early in the morning. The sun was barely beginning to rise, this was the time he'd go to bed before he met you. But you liked this, getting to go to bed with him, having him hold you as you fell asleep. Yoongi made it a point to always spend the night at your side if he wasn't traveling, but it was rare for him to wake up at the same time. He slipped his hand under his shirt and rubbed his torso slowly, tilting his head to the side and opening his eyes fully to look at you when you didn't respond immediately.
"I was about to," You offered, thinking of your sleeping daughter in the next room.
"Don't- I'll do it." He said quickly, grabbing his toothbrush. "I never get to wake her up in the mornings."
"You're usually sleeping, or working." You reasoned, leaning against the bathroom countertop as he brushed his teeth. You braided your hair back neatly as you always did, finding loose strands around your face bothersome.
He looked at you out of the side of his eye and shrugged, a sheepish smile working around the toothbrush in his mouth before he knocked hips with you. You laughed, adjusting your footing so you didn't get jostled by him. You leaned your cheek against his shoulder for a moment, staring at him in the mirror. Yoongi didn't look any different from when you two had first met- nothing about either of you screamed 'married' other than the matching silver bands on both of your ring fingers. No, you both were the same, instead now you had a little girl to raise together.
You wondered if the younger version of yourself would recognize you now. Whatever opinion they would have about you, they'd love Yoongi. You were sure that every version of you in any parallel universe loves any version of Yoongi.
"I'm gonna go make some coffee," You mumbled, squeezing a hand around Yoongi in a sort of makeshift one armed hug and went on your way, leaving him to wake Da-eun up.
You made yourself busy and wandered back to Da-eun's bedroom when you had a coffee for Yoongi in hand- all black decaf americano, because he claimed his obsession with caffeine had faded and been replaced by an obsession for the finer things in life: Da-eun. He said she was enough energy for him, that there was no need for caffeine now that he had her, which you rolled your eyes at, wondering how the boy who had attracted you by the sharpness of his tongue had gotten so soft.
You stopped yourself in the doorway, spotting Yoongi sat on the edge of Da-eun's bed, a concentrated look on his face with his tongue sticking out slightly between pursed lips. His brow was furrowed, eyes intense and dialed in. Your own eyes dragged down to what he was so focused on, spotting your daughter with a sleepy smile on her face, eyes closed while her appa carefully braided her hair into two plaits. She had her father's face, same doll nose, same cat-like eyes, rose bud lips. She was adorable and as much as you wished she was your twin, she was her father, through and through. You leaned against the doorway, watching him work his fingers through her hair carefully, silently, with a delicate touch you had only seen him reserve for her.
"Hair tie." Yoongi mumbled, prompting Da-eun to wordlessly hold up a bright pink elastic. He wrapped it at the bottom of her plait carefully, mindfully avoiding snagging her hair or pulling too tightly. He leaned back and smiled, admiring his work before smoothing down her hair gently, "Done- show eomma."
Da-eun opened her eyes and nodded, jumping up immediately and hugging Yoongi. You smiled and ignored the way your heart melted at the sight, wanting to race over and hug the both of them endlessly. Yoongi spotted you over her shoulder, scrunching his nose slightly as he smiled happily, "Did I do a good job?"
"Perfect," You nodded, walking over to sit beside him on the bed. You handed him his coffee as Da-eun moved to your lap, wrapping her arms around you instinctively. "I usually just leave her hair down, the braids are cute."
"Matches her eomma," Yoongi said softly, smoothing his hand down your braid the same way he had just done to Da-eun. "My pretty girls."
You smiled at him, feeling your cheeks pink up slightly.
When you were younger, you couldn't ever picture yourself older because you didn't really ever think you'd make it here. You thought that you'd be stuck as a child forever, never graduating to the next level of maturity. It was hard to picture loving yourself, let alone someone else loving you. Your future used to be one big grey blur, and if you had placed bets, your present definitely wouldn't have been a contender.
"What do you want for breakfast, aein?"
You shrugged and smiled at him, willing to eat anything he cooked for you.
Maybe you wouldn't have been able to predict that one day, you'd be married to a very sweet, very beautiful man who would raise the cutest, most pure ball of love that was currently cuddling into your side, but maybe that was because this kind of thing couldn't really be predicted.
It just had to be real.
