Markus isn't the ideal one to lead the revolution because he's a unique RK prototype, he's the ideal one because of who he is as a person. He's the perfect combination of selfless, kind, determined, brave, hopeful and righteous. Him being a one-of-a-kind android is just one of the many aspects that make up who he is. He could have been just a common model and not much of the story would change at all. And there's not a single point in the game where Markus at all implies that he thinks he's better than any other android; in fact he pretty much says the opposite at one point: "thousands of our people died today, what difference does one more make?" So he certainly doesn't think that his model or uniqueness make him any more suitable than anyone else.

Thinking about how Markus never really stops and processes what happened to him. Could be why he was so freaked out by Lucy, that she was able to see the things he doesn't want to face. She was like "hell lives in you" and Markus was just like "yeah I'm trying to ignore that mess in the corner of my mind, no thanks". And then he has so much responsibility that he can't afford to think about it at all, because there are so many people relying on him and thinking about the junkyard too hard will reduce him into a mess. Not to mention there not many people he will let see him vulnerable like that. He has an image to maintain.

It always bugs me beyond belief when people say that Markus doesn't have a personality. Because he does. He's just very reserved a lot of the time, which is a personality trait btw. Do I wish he had better interactions with Jericrew and other androids? Absolutely. Do I wish he'd had time to actually process the things that happens to him? Of course I do. Do I wish his story was given the attention it deserves? David Cage I am outside your door with a baseball bat. But y'all really going to overlook how caring, brave, impulsive, righteous, thoughtful and determined he is and how he's full of rage and grief and love, and tell me he has no personality?

I will always defend Markus being able to kick Connor's ass. Markus is not 'just' a domestic android. He wasn't made specifically to be a caretaker for Carl. His origins are mysterious, he was made as a part of a Cyberlife secret project and then later given to Carl by Kamski as a gift when Carl had his accident. He's an RK prototype, just like Connor. And yes, he's possibly a great deal older than Connor, but that doesn't automatically mean that Connor is better, he's just newer. Also, Markus is more durable and resourceful than Connor, whereas Connor is faster and more efficient than Markus.

Thinking about how scarred Markus could potentially be by the end of the game. First of all, what ever damage he gains during From The Dead. Scrapes on his thighs from when he dragged himself to get his legs. Little scratch marks on his temple from when he used a jagged rock to dig out his LED. The actual scars he has on his legs from when he replaced them.

Thinking about how, in the moments just prior and after Markus' deviation, Leo refers to him as 'a fucking thing', a 'bitch', a 'pussy' and also a 'worthless piece of plastic', never once calling him by his name, all the while physically abusing him. Whether or not Markus is actually being physically harmed is irrelevant, it's dehumanising as fuck. Leo then tells him no one will give a shit if he's gone.

"Markus had such a good life with Carl, it doesn't make sense that he becomes the leader of the revolution."

So, you know how Markus climbs out of the junkyard and declares 'My name is Markus' seemingly randomly (I say seemingly because I have my own HCs on why he does so)?
