as a contract mercenary cain is ruthless and efficient, the man wants to get paid. does he have money in multiple banks? yes. does he have a ton of gold and silver stashes in places people have long forgotten? also yes.
but the reason he makes so much money is to keep up with the renovations his wife awan (@rcliicta) makes on their home in order to change it enough to allow him to go home. the curse that sets him wandering has its loopholes, as do most things, and while it took them a while to figure it out once they did he turned his intense drive to making the money needed for her to tear down walls, up floors, replace paintings.
he is bitter that abel, once the two were separated by Hades, is allowed to simply stay home if he wants while he gets restless to the point of self destruction until he leaves. it does also have the added benefit of buying the newest technology in order to call while he's in the middle of torturing for information, or be able to take her call while taking down a rival cartel, and listen to her gush about the things she's bought and can't wait for him to come home and see.
