Since 1983 Band Director Mark Phelps has been leading the Oceanside High band and orchestra ~ that is an amazing 33 years!

1983 – First Year at OHS

He will retire at the end of the school year, so join the celebration to show how much he is appreciated and loved for his tremendous dedication to so many musicians…

Olivia has been selected as one of only 125 students nationwide to perform with the 2015 U.S Army All-American Marching Band during halftime of this year’s bowl game, January 3 at the Alamo Dome in San Antonio, Texas.

“She definitely earned this honor with her audition,” said OHS Band Director Mark Phelps, who called Olivia’s selection one of the biggest announcements in the history of the school.   “She’s a terrific young lady, musician and student.”

Olivia will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the Alamo City, where she will spend a full week practicing with her new bandmates and touring the historic town.  A senior, she plans to attend a four-year university next fall and study music education.

    Congratulations, Olivia! Outstanding talent and hard work pays off!
