Location: In the quag, before the beginning of the lake.

Appearance: Marish cats have big paws and stout legs with a longer body than usual, sort of similar to an otter. Like the Plage, they have a double coat, though the fur is longer and a little fluffier. Colors are mottled and patched, whether tortoiseshell, calico or merely a tabby with lots of white. Whatever the case is, there’s a sense of contrast against the colors, with many smaller patches of white. 

Culture: The Marish are generally pretty secretive as a result of their tendency to withhold their opinions until they have more information on a situation. This is a huge benefit, since arguments rarely occur within the family or with their neighbors. The downside is that they can be hesitant to accept change and are dead set on keeping the peace by any means that aren’t violent. This can result in cats not being allowed to leave the marshes for various reasons, the most common of which being that the individual is likely to cause trouble and sully the Marish name, even if they’re a prankster at best. They tend to think in the big-picture sense (or so they like to say), which bleeds into their prefix choices. Because of the massive amount of patched cats in the family, the Marish accept names meant for non-patched cats, so long as the color matches the other part of the fur. These names, of course, are usually about aquatic animals and waterbirds. 

Vernacular: It’s hard to gauge the exact accent of the Marish, since they communicate non-verbally most of the time, at least with each other. They share a few traits with the southern Scattered families - mostly their drawl - but it’s weirdly less severe than the non-group that happens to live north of them.
