Episode Thoughts, Gone Baby Gone
The best episode of the week.
Pictured: Hekapoo wondering how she ever fell for this dweeb, and why she hasn’t been able to get up.
H-Poo lists off Marco’s traits like they’re a bad thing, but if she hates all that about him so much why’d she come to warn her boy toy cave buddy riding partner (yeah, that’s still just insinuating enough) about her bad feeling?Â
Lol. I guess this episode “confirms” that Brunzetta is some kind of immortal or spirit warrior, considering it’s been a couple thousand years since the first time Marco would have met her at this point.Â
Good tough/nice dichotomy you’ve got going there.
Some emotions just never fade. This episode also pretty much confirms that Meteora’s memories from her time as Heinous won’t be coming back on their own, though the year or so she spent tormented by Turdina will remain as part of her emotional baggage whether she understands why or not.
I just like this screen, and I’m sure no one would ever imply anything from it.
Oh good, an anime villain.
Another shot I’m sure no one would ever use out of context.
I like this episode because it actually served a purpose as set up while also being it’s own adventure. That being said there are a few points I feel I have to make.
Hekapoo leaving the portal open so the babies could get out - Marco was the one who pushed her out before she could close it, and she seemed surprised that Meteora was even there. Hekapoo might be indirectly responsible but Marco’s more at fault. All it took was Meteora seeing the shiny portal and climbing like she’s been shown to do or dwipping dwown to grab her new friend and away they go.
Hekapoo’s warning to Marco - some comments I've seen insinuate this is her indirectly saying she and Omni are going to do something, but remember they’ve been tracking the unknown magic (who we’re pretty sure is part of Mina’s doing, but that’s dramatic irony for you) for awhile now. I guess the remaining MHC duo could try something, but that seems like a waste of time and episode space to repeat one of the Gloss children doing something stupid at this point.
Since Meteora still can’t remember why she hates Marco there’s a really good chance the babies won’t remember their time in H-Poo’s dimension since they’re minds have reverted back to a point where they aren’t retaining complex long-term memories. But also looking at Meteora the sensation of being sisters/friends will no doubt remain. I know a lot of people were pre-shipping Marco Jr./Meteora as a future couple, but with a life-long sense of companionship between them I guess Mariora could still happen if you want it to. There has already been a lesbian queen of Mewni after all.
And with that we’re one step closer to the end of the show. I guess I’ll have to start thinking about something else to obsess over before long.
