It broke my heart recently to hear that an instructor I greatly admire told his class that Jiu Jitsu should not be fun. That they shouldn’t smile in Jiu Jitsu. I tell my students the opposite. I tell them when their arms are burning, grips are gone, and lungs are about to burst, they must smile. I’ve done drills for it. Forcing them to smile during their the roll. Take it all in. It completely the feeling is the fight. You become greatful to your opponent make it possible. This is the challenge you’ve been looking for. Enjoy it. Embrace it. Find bliss in the pain. Not because you’ve held off your insecurity for one more day, but because you’ve finally found beauty in what you’ve devoted your life to. And on that note...The first ever Omni #JiuJitsuRave. Dj, lights and rolling upstairs and a lounge to chill downstairs. We’re celebrating Kim @smarterbodies birthday and making this the first event for the rebooted #SubmissionImpossible. Our non profit branch, started by Omni brown belt @dennissanabia was originally intended to help people suffering from mental illness. The program will know focus all its energy on this vitally important cause that can change the lives of so many. Please join us for some floor karate and a good time with good people. Saturday, March 31st from 7pm-2am. All my friends know how important this cause is to me, so your asses better bring all your students. 🤙🏽🤛🏽💪🏽 #jiujitsushouldbefun #bjjrave #omniparty #submissionimpossible #jiujitsubirthday #bjjparty #mentalhealth #submitthestigma #jiujitsu #grappling #submissions #omnimartialartsny #judo #mma #smarterbodies #mariomma #atjiujitsunyc #omninyc (at New York, New York)
