“Do you only have a crush on people’s voices, or for real, too?”

“Why do you care?” Marie replies.

The Secret Keeper shrugs. “We’ve been friends for a while, and you’ve never told me about that stuff. Not even as a secret.” He’s trying to feign indifference, but he really wants to know. Depending on who Marie’s real, not 'just-her-voice' crush is, it may determine if he's willing to share a specific secret with her. He doesn’t do that often with any of his secrets, but this one he especially does not share. It’s, like, the biggest of all the secrets he knows. It’s kind of the whole reason he started doing this whole “secret keeping” thing, which would make a great hook for his memoir if he could ever tell anybody it ever, which he can’t, but he’s thinking about it so hard that Marie can probably hear his thoughts with how much he’s thinking about it and if she knows then it’s not a secret anymore and isn’t that the whole reason he’s here right now— 

Anyways. It’s kind of a big deal to him. He knows that Marie isn't like the other horse girls, but he thought that was just about the 'horse' part. If it has anything to do with the 'girl' part... well, that would also be kind of a big deal.
