Do you still use Sketch Up to draw your models then import them into Blender? Or are you modeling exclusively in Blender? I would like to try making some custom content but with so many tools and a lot of outdated tutorials in the community, I feel a little bit overwhelmed! Would love some insight on your workflow!
I work solely in blender now.
My advice is if you are looking to learn, look outside the community for meshing tutorials. It isn’t unique to the sims community and it’s all pretty much the same regardless, until you get into porting it into S4S which they have up-to-date tutorials on. The person i recommend on YouTube to start of is this guy:

He is a great teacher and explains indepth and it is from him I learnt a lot of the skills to be about to make CC. His UV unwrapping tutorials are especially handy (never use smart unwrap people, that stuff does a horrible job most of the time).
The biggest thing when making cc for TS4 is getting the scale right. Simply export a mesh as reference while modelling so you get an idea of what it will look like ingame. You will need to read up on how to use specific features of blender, but they have a very good wiki that will explain how their tools work so i would advise bookmarking it and searching as you go. Don’t know how to use the append feature? The wiki will tell you.
All this knowledge is going to accumulate slowly so don’t be too hard on yourself. If you are feeling overwhelmed, start small and go from there.
