i have to say, i think gotham central may have one of the most perfect, full circle endings i ever read for a comic. driver, who lost his own partner at the beginning, being there for renee in her grief. the whole squad pulling out the stops to bring down corrigan & it not being enough. driver being the first person after renee to accept that there’s ultimately nothing else they can do inside the law. renee offering cris’ wife, dore, hope for justice when renee has none left. renee’s spiral of violence & shutting people out coming to its breaking point. renee refusing to cross that line & take the kind of vengeance she knows cris never would’ve wanted. the last panel being renee walking away from the life she’s known at the gcpd, as alone as she’s been feeling for months
