Amongst the asininity of the Rolling Stone Magazine cover debocale I once again find myself with pride for my city. Boston is a city that when in adversity can reach out and ban together. As always, the way my fellow residents respond to cataclysm gives me strength and speaks volumes for OUR community and OUR country. The selfless acts of kindness and the fortitude of everyone on April 15th from the runners, EMTs, doctors, nurses, police, students, spectators, our neighbors and strangers are truly inspiring- all those who helped are truly rockstars and should be on magazine covers. Krystal Campbell, Martin William Richard, Lingzi Lu, and Sean Collier should be on the cover of a magazine publications such as this. Of course this is a major news and it is inescapable that it will be reported on, and it should be. That being said there is a certain amount of tact and class that should be practiced. Seems it is just another case of someone trying to use sensationalism to get ahead. A few days ago I would have thought it was a sublime honor to grace a Rolling Stone cover, at this time I find the whole publication to be one perverse joke.
Sentiments from a Bostonian to the now-contentious Rolling Stone.
to whoever is responsible for this attack:
you just ruined the best day of the year in boston.
a day of celebration, camaraderie, athleticism, goodwill, and fun. a day where the city’s residents come together to watch one of the most coveted marathons in the world.Â
our city will never be the same. the boston marathon will never be the same. memories of college life in boston will be smeared with the nightmare of this attack.
what good does a bomb do? what message does it send? give me a legitimate reason for doing what you did.
i haven’t lived here long, but i love boston. it’s my home away from home. and this attack just tarnished it a little bit.
that being said: this is a city of strength. we will fight back and get to the bottom of this. if anything, it will make the love of the city and within the city stronger.
your bombs may hurt us, but they will never defeat us.
stop the madness.
I saw the video footage from The Boston Globe and I immediately starting crying. The panic, fear, and chaos that ensued is heartbreaking. My love, prayers, and support go to the runners, families and friends of runners, bystanders, victims, and emergency response officers who have been helping. I am so proud of the city of Boston and how they have immediately gone to the hospital to donate blood, who have opened their doors to help the runners and visitors who don't have access to their hotel rooms or money and are providing temporary shelter, food, and drinks to them. I can't focus on anything but this horrific terrorist attack that has occurred today. Prayers for Boston; give your loved ones a call, give them a hug, something.
