I'm still mad about this conversation I had with my mom about the air quality being terrible where I currently live
Me: yeah when I walked to work I got an asthma attack and when I walked back home I also got an asthma attack
Mom: well maybe you should get diagnosed so you can get an inhaler?
Me: *blinks* I did. 2 years ago-
Mom: well maybe you should use your inhaler
Mom: then maybe you need to go back and ask for a different one if it's not working
Mom: then why are you talking about it like you want a solution for a problem?
Me: i?? Wasn't?? I was complaining about how bad the air is?? Am I not allowed to complain??
I kid you not I got diagnosed in 2024 with 'mild' asthma (I still think that's bullshit but I dislike how the doctors do communication there bc it was so clear that nobody fucking talked to eachother about the patients they're treating). It was an entire thing with getting my inhaler. My parents made a big deal about it, mom especially.
That and like. Idk. Maybe I'm complaining about it FOR A DIFFERENT REASON THAT I CAN'T DIRECTLY CONTROL [POLLUTION AND GLOBAL WARMING]. Because that's what causes the air quality to go down this astronomical amount and affect me 8/10. (The other 2/10 times being allergens.)
Like I constantly have to go "yeah I'm allergic to something but I can't figure out what it is haha" at work but that's because if you try and talk about how the air quality is going down due to rich men oil executives, cars, global warming, datacenters, or anything like that, you have the 50/50 chance of sparking the ire of someone who might be a trump-loving god-fearing republican in the vicinity who will probably tell you to "shut up and deal with it, snowflake". I also don't want my lungs to get worse than they already are, LINDA, so maybe avoiding Covid with a mask is reasonable for me to do?
I'm the only person masking in my house in terms of face masks and I've gotten sick the least but it's entirely because I don't want my lungs taking another hit from Covid.
