“Okay, okay. Be honest with me. Brutally honest. I’m going to an early Halloween party slash birthday party.” He paused, looking down at himself. “What do you think of my look?”

“You can call me miserable but haunted houses are not for me,” he half laughed, looking across at the crowds of people. “What about you? Is it your thing?”
Chris was never quiet about how he advocated for change, but even he was a little shocked as he left the town meeting, the air still warm in the summer months. It was odd to think the campground would be gone, although who was to say they weren’t going to turn it into a nature reserve? “I don’t think i’m going to object to it...” he stated, making his way out of the meeting with the crowd. “Although i know plenty who would argue...” He clicked his tongue as he rambled.
“You want to go get a drink with the group of us?” He nodded at a few other locals. “We make a habit of trying to get together after these things. Community spirit and all that.”

“Curious...” Misha flicked through the files in her hands, page after page of paperwork unfolding before her. She was attempting to switch the paperwork over to digital before the new year. It was proving a task. Her predecessor kept very very detailed records of the towns. Not just medical records, but historical records, important events, births and even deaths. “Sorry... the fire. Did you say it happened in 2012?” She furrowed her brows. “There’s no record of it here.... nothing.”

Chris had been so focussed on the work on the campsite and town hall restorations, he had barely had time to take in the sights of Maple Creek lately. Plus, with the weather getting colder he wasn’t exactly one to go out and freeze his butt off. He pushed the coffee shop door, groaning as it wouldn’t budge. “Closed? What do you mean closed?” he looked at his watch, it was still pretty early and somehow he hadn’t anticipated that coffee shops in Maple Creek weren’t open as early as in the city.
“Looks like you’re going caffeine free today Chris.” he mused to himself, before looking at the person that was trying the door now he’d stepped away. “It’s closed.” he replied as if he had already known this fact before trying it himself. “I think the petrol station has a coffee machine... if you want a ride?”

Chris had cast his line out into the water of the creek. Or at least he was assuming that is what it was called. He wasn’t one for fishing, but he’d found his father’s old equipment at his mom’s house and she’d insisted on giving it to him. He was fairly certain she just wanted to clear out the garage of the old man’s stuff. He huffed, leaning back in the chair. “I’m not certain how people find this relaxing.” He mused, closing his eyes in the sunlight for just a moment.
Before he knew it a loud snore startled him, shaking from the chair he jumped awake. “I was just resting my eyes.” he defended, blinking awake to see if anyone had seen him drifting off.

Medulla wasn't Kris' normal coffee stop of choice, but he had been called in to a meeting and needed the strongest wifi he could find on the island. His option was here or the local library and he felt like he might disturb fewer people in the rather corporate coffee shop.
The people around him were a busy clientele and all sitting across separate tables. The walls were cold and clinical with the odd coffee bean decal stuck to break up the coldness.
As he finished his work call he closed his laptop, holding his head in his hands for a moment. "Fucking Maple..." He sighed, leaning back with his coffee he lifted his head just as a pamphlet fell from a passer by's bag. He stood to his feet holding it back up to the person. "You dropped this." He offered gently.
Chris looked up at the old town hall, a sketch pad in his hand and a coffee in his other. HIs fingers twirled the pencil, before lifting it to his lips and chewing slowly for a few moments. He pointed at the clocktower with it. “I’ve been staring at this thing since i was a damn kid and you know... all i can think of is that back to the future movie.” He laughed to himself, shaking his head. “I don’t think they were actually designed for time travel.” He shifted in his seat, glancing at the person on the bench. “Sorry... i am rambling again.”
