In the spirit of Wip Wednesday here’s a little excerpt from a fic idea I had this morning that I definitely didn’t write on company time
He was supposed to be using this break to rest, not to roam the halls in the middle of the night. Copia recalls last week when he got spooked by the man coming up behind him in the chapel while he was lighting a devotional for Sister Imperator. He jumped and spilled hot wax on himself when he had felt a tap on his back and hot breath on his neck. Copia was just glad he didn't set fire to the vigil he had created for his mother–
Perpetua’s uncertain voice broke him out of his thoughts and he focused again on the man in front of him. Without his makeup and costume Perpetua looked eerily similar to the worn photographs of Nihil that Copia had found at the bottom of Sister’s desk where he now sat. Though his jet black hair was more curled at the ends and he still wore that blasted mask there was no mistaking the resemblance between the two. A reminder that this stranger was in fact family.
Copia wished he could say he was overjoyed when he learned that he had a brother, no less a twin, but that was far from the truth. He was more than a little upset, still was. Why Perpetua was kept a secret until now Copia would never know. He was more than a little jilted that his twin was already so successful, summoning his first ghoul, playing sold out shows, and being featured in magazines and music videos so soon after ascending to the papacy. But he was happy for him, happy for the clergy… he just wished that he could still perform too, instead of being stuck as Frater Imperator.
Copia shook his head to get himself back in the moment again, leaning forward to give his attention to Perptua, “Eh yes Per-... Papa, what can I do for you this evening?”.
Perpetua nervously wrung his hands and looked off to the side, a habit that Copia had noticed as soon as he had arrived, “Well, I was wondering if we could talk?”
Copia fought to suppress a scoff, he couldn’t fault the man, they really hadn’t conversed much since Perpetua came to the Abbey. The new frontman had been exhausted from the european tour and still had to meet all of the ghouls and clergy members that resided within the grounds. When Perpetua was finally done getting acquainted Copia still wasn’t quite ready to face him so he scheduled meetings and holed himself away in his office to avoid him. It felt a bit childish really, trying to hide from the reminder that everything is changing and there's still so much about his past and his family that he doesn’t know. He knew he needed to stop running so he sighed and motioned for Perpetua to sit in the guest chair in front of his desk, “What is it that you would like to discuss with me Papa?”
