BIG EASY; BIG VACCINE - Three famous Big Easy concert clubs - Tipitina’s, Maple Leaf Bar and d.b.a. New Orleans - are requiring proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative coronavirus test for entry and challenging others to do the same.

“Due to the recent rise in COVID-19 infections across the city and throughout the country, other venues are encouraged to join in our mission to help slow the spread of this virus and variants that pose an imminent risk to the health and safety of our community,” the owners said in a statement.

STEVE EARLE & THE DUKES PLEAD FOR “COOPERATION AND RESPECT: Steve Earle & the Dukes plan to finish their ongoing tour “if at all possible” and are asking fans to help them cross the finish line.

“Please, respect our efforts and get vaccinated or wear a mask when you come to see and hear us perform,” they said in a statement.

“This is not a requirement, as such regulations are illegal in many of the places we are playing on this tour. It is rather a plea for your cooperation and respect.”

NEW JERSEY’S CRAWFISH FEST CANCELED: The 2021 Crawfish Fest - scheduled for Aug. 27-29 - is cancelled due to a rise in COVID-19 cases.

Saying “no one gets hurt,” is rule No. 1, organizers broke the news on Facebook.

“A paint line is not going to protect people,” they said. “On a hot day in August, sweaty masks most likely will be coming off. It will be near impossible to keep people masked and at a safe distance.”

HISS GOLDEN MESSENGER SPEAKS: Hiss Golden Messenger is downcast by music fans’ attitudes toward COVID-19 vaccinations.

“I guess I’m not very surprised at all the anti-vax sentiment among the jam-band crowd,” he tweeted. “Looking through their comments is like watching Fox News.”
